One of my favorite bands from high school/college, the OC Supertones just released a new album after having been broken up for seven years. Entitled For the Glory, this is an incredible album that has been speaking to me for months.
The title track has been particularly inspiring. Let me dazzle you with some of the lyrics:
I don’t care if you ever hear this
And every cheering voice goes silent
I don’t care for the words of critics
So man just save your judgements
I believe in a God that’s listening
I believe in a truth worth telling
I believe that the stars are singing
We only want to join in
And what I thought important
It doesn’t seem to matter
Our purpose, our mission
Is to say that…
This is for the glory of God
This is for the Risen King
Who conquered death and hell
That’s a story we must tell
This is for the glory
We are to live our lives for the glory of God. It doesn’t matter whether we get any credit or recognition on this side of Heaven. We are to do everything we can to bring fame and acclaim to the name of Jesus.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
…[L]et your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
I don’t think I can say it any more clearly: whatever comes before you to do, do it with the intention that God alone should be glorified for by it.
